All COMIT reports are designed to provide information in the formats needed to effectively manage an entire telecommunications system. Reports within the COMIT system can be generated on-demand or on a pre-scheduled basis.
The system provides the ability to access the database using a query-by-form (QBF) function. In this mode, the input forms used to update the database can be used to access the database and retrieve applicable records as well. Alternatively, the user can merely highlight a given field, and the system will retrieve all records with a valid entry in that field.
Printing of reports can be suppressed for specified authorization and/or account codes.
From each of its functions, COMIT provides many different types of reports:
- service order processing function provides information regarding technician productivity, vendor charges, equipment costs, and departmental move, add, and change activity.
- equipment inventory function produces departmental summaries, corporate totals, and equipment type and feature summaries.
- cable inventory function provides a number of reports that help technician supervisors and engineers maintain better records of all cable within and between facilities.
- call accounting function includes many exception reports that allow a system manager to detect abuse. Frequently called area codes and exchanges (NPA NXX) can be tracked to cost justify installation of foreign exchange lines. These exception reports, combined with station call detail and departmental and network reports, can provide the information needed to effectively manage any telecommunications system, large or small.
