COMIT's IP alarm management monitors network firewall, LAN/switch, Class 5 switch, and server log files to spot problems in real time, ideally before users are affected. Up to five levels of notification can be established to assure network managers of real time alarming. COMIT integrates the notification system with its web-based delivery system and executive dashboards, creating a single picture that illustrates the health of a network.
COMIT's alarm monitoring combines admin-defined rules-based systems with analytical models to automate strategic decision-making, and to alarm and notify managers of events. Network management information is collected through: agents installed on infrastructure; a rules-based agent searching for significant events after activity has been logged; sniffers; and the collection and processing of Cisco Netflow transactions.
