For many people, internet protocol (IP) is more than just a way to transport data, it's also a tool that simplifies and streamlines a wide range of business applications. Telephony is the most obvious example. Voice over internet protocol (VoIP) is the foundation for more advanced unified communications applications, including web and video conferencing that can transform the way you do business.
Few enterprise customers will be able to manage ongoing network changes by using the LAN, WAN application management tools they already have—not to mention the issues that come with their IP-telephony systems. Becasue Comit is a next generation management system it is capable of managing converged networks including: COMIT does TDM, IP, and VoIP.
COMIT eases the initial replacement of legacy PBXs with IP-telephony systems, assisting in the installation and maintenance of these IP-telephony deployments and converged networks by maintaining configuration, location, and network information from day one.
To further support COMIT users with the transition to VoIP, PCR is a registered third party adaptor of Succession Element and Subnetwork Manager (SESM), which is designed with open interfaces to allow the use of SERVORD+ to provision CICM subscribers via the OSSGate client. PCR has successfully installed the COMIT interface to OSSGate using SERVORD to provision lines on the DMS or CS2100. Using an XML interface, COMIT provides the interface software to the CICM element manager for making feature/parameter changes to Centrex IP subscribers.
