CALEA—Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act

  • all VoIP providers are required to maintain the ability to wiretap digital phone calls

FRCP—Federal Rules of Civil Procedure

  • businesses must be able to produce all electronic documents and communications (email, PDFs, IMs, etc.) for civil suits if subpoenaed
